26 October 2017 - Jack Ryan says:-
"Pete Verrill (B-1) - was always rumoured to be Father Christmas at Newhouses in Middlesbrough on Saturdays!
Niven McMaster (M-2) - frequenter of the Woodman in Normanby - lived over the road from the school in Teesville.
Bill Readman (M-3) - dad of my best friend all the way through school and lived at 40 South Park Ave, Normanby.
Mr Fox (M-9) - my tutor in the 1st Year in 1969 and sang bass directly behind me in the school choir!
Mr Kilner (F-6 known as Alf or The Boss) - taught me Classical Greek at South Park 6th Form College 1974-76.
Nora Allison (F-8 known as Aunty Ally) - was Senior Mistress in my time. I met her in the late 80s or early 90s
when I was a teacher myself on a school residential trip to Osmotherley Youth Hostel from Nottinghamshire
and we both knew each other instantly!"
07 November 2017 - Trevor Longstaff (M-7 Photo K) recalls:-
"Mr McMaster (M-2) gave me a 1000 word essay in French on the subject -
                            ’The Great Fire of London’ - for striking a match in his French lesson !"
14 February 2018 - Lesley Pattinson provided Front (1st) Row No.9 as Mrs Thompson? (French).
20 February 2018 - Alan Pengilley (M-1 Photo U) added four names:-
(B-5 Mr Hugill (Woodwork & Tech Drawing), M-4 Mr. Harrison (Maths), M-5 Mr. Alsop (Chemistry),
M-6 Mr. Doug Brown (PE & games), M-7 Mr. Sykes (Geography))
Alan was certain that:-
"Front Row No.9 was Mrs Chapman (French) not Mrs. Thompson -
- as Mrs Chapman was my form teacher in first year 1 alpha.
Mr Brown(M-6) played cricket for Normanby Hall."
19 Sep 2018 - Linda Helman (nee Motson F-11 Photo P) identified M-10 as Miss Rhodes and said:-
"She got married sometime before 1965 but no idea when and I cannot remember her married name." [but see later!]
23 Sep 2018 - Cecilia Jones (F-8 Photo M & F-2 Photo 1) provided M-7 teacher’s full-name as John Michael Sykes and said:-
"Mr Sykes came from Sheffield and EGS was his first teaching post. He and his wife Hazel lived in Spencer Rd ."
29 Sep 2018 - see comments on Photo V regarding M-10 Mrs Patricia Tate (nee Rhodes).
30 Sep 2018 - Cecilia Jones (F-8 Photo M & F-2 Photo 1) said:-
"F-2 Miss Lee taught Greek.
At the first signs of winter she had chains fitted to her car tyres -
- and we could hear her clanking down Normanby Rd as she approached the school."

"Hi, I was appointed PE boys teacher in July 1962 and can add names and occasional details missing viz Staff photos.

"I believe Mr Mace’s first name was Geoff, not George.
F-10 is Mrs Johnson, English teacher.
M-1 is Mrs Mark, Science teacher not Pat Weatherall who arrived somewhat later"

"John Collinson (B-3) my metalwork teacher managed to lose a finger while using the circular saw in the woodwork shops.
Bill Hugill (B-5) thought it was hilarious and never let him forget it."

"John Collinson (B-3) taught me Engineering Workshop Theory & Practice (not Metalwork) as well as Engineering Drawing."

"I remember Arnie Harker (B-8) used to sing tenor in the school choir.
I particularly remember him singing ’Three Kings from Persian Lands Afar’ in Eston Church, i think !"
