David James Wilkinson

  David was born in Normanby and attended Normanby Primary School and Sir William Turner's School.
  At 18 he left to be trained as a doctor in Cambridge and London and returned north in 1975 to work as a hospital consultant in York.
  He has edited several local histories (including our group's 5th booklet "Diaries of Ralph Jackson") and on retirement obtained an MA in Local Studies at York University (on the early history of Horse Racing in Yorkshire).
  He lived in Old Byland near Helmsley with his wife Hazel.
  In October 2016 David passed away peacefully at home in Thoralby near Leyburn.   A Service of Remembrance was held for David at St Andrew's Church, Aysgarth.
